Placement season · Infosys
Infosys off-campus hiring, honestly.
Four doors, four very different salaries
Infosys does not run one hiring exam, it runs a ladder of them, and which door you enter through decides your pay for years. Most students only ever hear about the bottom rung.
The doors, and what they pay
System Engineer (SE)
The standard offer, the one most mass-hiring candidates receive.
around ₹3.6 LPA
Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE)
A stronger performance in the same process, often via the certification route.
roughly ₹6.25 LPA
Specialist Programmer (SP)
Reached through the competitive coding contest, not the standard drive.
roughly ₹9.5 LPA and up
Power Programmer
Deep coding strength, judged on real problem solving.

What the process actually tests
- 1
Aptitude
Quantitative, logical reasoning and verbal ability. This filters more people than the coding round does.
- 2
Pseudocode
Reading code and predicting what it does, rather than writing it from scratch. Practise reading, not just typing.
- 3
Puzzle solving
Classic logic puzzles. Unusual among the big drives, and very learnable.
- 4
Interview
Technical plus HR. Your projects matter here more than your marks do.
The part nobody says out loud
The gap between the bottom rung and the coding-contest rung is larger than several years of appraisals. If you can code at all, aim at the contest route before settling for the standard drive: it is the same company, the same year, and roughly triple the starting pay.
How this one differs
Pseudocode and puzzles. Infosys tests whether you can READ code and think in steps, where other drives ask you to write code under time pressure.
Service agreement
Standard service agreements have applied to some Infosys offers. Read the specific letter you receive, do not rely on what a senior tells you.
Verify before you plan around this. Pay bands and exam patterns change every hiring cycle, and this page is written from public information, not from inside the company. Always confirm against the official posting.
Last human check: Not yet verified by a human, see the note on this page. Infosys careers
Passing the exam is step one. The ladder after it is the real game.
Every one of these drives leads to a similar first job. What separates people five years later is what they built while the salary paid the rent. The aptitude prep is the same across all of them, so start there.
